The Saskatoon Contacts U18 AAA Hockey Club is accepting applications for the position of Head Coach. The Head Coach will be selected and appointed by the Saskatoon Contacts Board of Directors. This key position will perform all duties associated with the role of a Head Coach of a U18 AAA Hockey Club.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Communication
- Serve as the official representative on behalf of the Hockey Club
- Be a point of contact for scouts, agents, and other team representatives from the SMAAAHL and other leagues
- Conduct exit interviews with graduating/departing players and coaches
- Foster an environment of regular and effective communication with players and parents
Leadership
- Ensure all players get equitable instruction and support time to ensure optimal player development; utilize video to assist in this process
- Ensure player development includes a commitment to education and community involvement
- Select the players for the team in consultation with Director of Scouting + Recruitment and Assistant Coaches Plan on and off ice activities including team building activities
- Develop and build team concepts and ensure all coaches are part of that process
- Take the lead role in planning and implementation of all player evaluations, as well as pre-game preparation for players and Assistant Coaches.
- Develop game and practice plans and team strategies and tactics
Commitment
- Preparation of a season plan that is presented to the Board of Directors
- Assist in the organization and set up of the spring / fall camps
- Travel with team for all road games and tournaments Lead and develop systems to ensure scouting responsibilities are clearly defined for the Hockey Club
- Ensure proper Hockey Canada accreditation is obtained or maintained by all coaching staff and bench personnel
QUALIFICATIONS
- Coaching philosophy aligned with the values of the Saskatoon Contacts U18 Hockey Club
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong coaching background with sound knowledge of bench management, player utilization, video software, and in-game systems.
- Player recruitment experience
- Head Coaching experience at a minimum at the Bantam AA level considered an asset
- HP1 coaching certification, Respect in Sport, Checking, and other required coaching certifications
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
