Caden Price, Riley Heidt, Kalan Lind and Brayden Yager were among 66 players named to the inaugural Capital City Challenge, which will take place in Ottawa.
The tournament runs from Nov. 26 to Dec. 1 and will be held at TD Place Arena, the home of the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League.
The 66 players will be divided into three teams – Team Canada Black, Team Canada Red and Team Canada White – and will compete against Canada’s National Women’s Team as part of its centralization schedule. The rosters for Team Canada Black, Team Canada Red and Team Canada White will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
The quartet of Price, Heidt, Lind and Yager were all standout members of the Contacts 2020-21 team, which went 5-1 in the pandemic-shortened season.
All four skaters were selected in the first 30 picks in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, with Heidt and Yager going back-to-back at second and third-overall, with Lind coming as the sixth-overall selection. Price was one of the first selections of the second-round, after being selected 30th overall by the Kelowna Rockets.
Price has been productive in his first-year in the WHL, racking up a goal and four assists through nine games with the Rockets. The 16-year-old blue liner registered his first-career WHL goal in just his second-career game back on Oct. 9.

Yager has enjoyed a sensational start to the 2021-22 season with the Moose Jaw Warriors. The 16-year-old forward is humming along with more than a point-per-game, registering seven goals and eight assists through 13 games.
We seen this more than a few times last season at the SaskTel Centre...

Someone call the police because Kalan Lind just stole this puck from the Lethbridge defence. 🚓@rebelshockey | #WHLOpeningWeek pic.twitter.com/rYBLQiZfdm
