While it was a WHL season unlike any other, there were plenty of standout performances from Contacts alumni. With the season wrapping up last night, it's time to run through what the last couple of months have brought for some of this program's finest.
Connor Zary
It’s been a busy six month stretch for Connor Zary, who was a part of Team Canada’s silver-medal squad at the 2020 World Junior Hockey Championships in Edmonton.
Soon after representing his country, the Calgary Flames first-round selection made his professional debut with the Stockton Heat, playing in nine games and recording three goals and four assists.
But with play resuming in the WHL, Zary returned to his junior club in the Kamloops Blazers, where he received the honour of the donning the ‘C’.
Zary had been tremendous within the bubble, tallying 24 points in 15 games, with his 1.6 points-per-game standing sixth in the WHL, despite being out of the lineup since Apr. 28 after suffering an upper-body injury.
Brayden Yager
Brayden Yager has wasted little time making his name known on the WHL stage. After being selected third-overall in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, Yager immediately became a difference maker for the Moose Jaw Warriors this season.
Yager’s 18 points ranks fifth among WHL rookies and tied for second amongst fellow Warriors. The centreman’s season will go down in the history books, as he now ranks ninth all-time in the WHL for scoring in a 15-year-old season, and fourth in points-per-game among players with at least 20 games played.
Ummm... how about this for a highlight in your second-career game in @theWHL?!?

Take a bow, Brayden Yager! The third-overall pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft’s bardown snipe last night won it for the @MJWarriors in a shootout! pic.twitter.com/XkZFhiE5fS
Riley Heidt
Riley Heidt, who turned 16 just prior to making his debut in the WHL, wasted little time to solidify just why he was selected second overall in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.
The Saskatoon native, who tallied ten points in six games with the Contacts this season, went on to register eight points in 22 games for the Prince George Cougars.
Heidt is the definition of a highlight waiting to happen and he has displayed that in his rookie campaign with the Cougars. Heidt had a pair of beauties, including his first in the WHL.
Kevin Korchinski
After attending Canada's National Under-17 Virtual Development Camp this summer, Kevin Korchinski checked off another box as he became a full-time WHL’er in the U.S. Division bubble with the Seattle Thunderbirds.
It was a tremendous start to Korchinski’s junior hockey career, as he recorded ten points in 23 games, which is tied for first among rookie defenseman. His six powerplay points trail only Connor Bedard among WHL rookies.
The tenth overall pick in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft is also second among first-year blueliners in shots on goal with 37 this season.
Kalan Lind
A spectacular six-game stint with the Saskatoon Contacts to start the 2020-21 season prior to the league shutdown presented Kalan Lind with a full-time opportunity with the Red Deer Rebels.
Lind displayed the goal-scoring prowess that made him a top-six selection in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, scoring four goals for the Rebels in 15 games - including this nifty re-deflection for his first-career WHL goal in his second career game.
Well, Brayden Yager scored his first WHL goal in his third career game.

It looks like Kalan Lind didn't want to be out done, as he picked up the milestone in his second career contest in the Dub on Saturday night.
Congrats, @kacolind13! https://t.co/3vBRQ0BEWB
Tye Spencer
After appearing in two games last season with the Kamloops Blazers, Tye Spencer became a regular in the club’s lineup this year in the B.C. Division.
Spencer, who registered 24 points in 35 games last season with the Contacts, found the back of the net twice in 15 games for Kamloops.
His first came at the start of April in a 5-1 win over the Prince George Cougars.
Another night, another milestone.

Here is the first of many WHL goals for 16-year-old Tye Spencer in last nights 5-1 @blazerhockey victory. Tye recorded 27 points in 41 career games with the C’s and he wasted little time getting on the scoresheet in the Dub.
Congrats Tye! pic.twitter.com/l6pKyp8Lu2
Logan Bairos
After wearing the ‘C’ for the Contacts in the 2019-20 season, Logan Bairos made the jump to the WHL this year, starring alongside the likes of Zary and Spencer for the Kamloops Blazers.
Bairos appeared in 17 games this season for the Blazers, but it was in the 17th and final game in which Bairos went primetime, as the blueliner jumped up into the play and found twine to register his first career WHL goal.
The goal led to a 4-0 Blazers win, closing the club’s campaign with an 18-4-0 record, good enough for first in the B.C. Division.
First WHL season ✅

First WHL goal ✅
What a way to end the year for Logan Bairos, as the former Contacts captain scores one he will never forget.
Congrats Logan! https://t.co/VGq52ZTrvp
Jacob Hoffrogge
Jacob Hoffrogge appeared in five games during the bubble for the Brandon Wheat Kings, which included his debut in the Western Hockey League.
Hoffrogge, who spent three seasons with the Contacts after being selected by the Wheat Kings in the second round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft, is set to return to Brandon next season.
Alex Morozoff
After being traded to his hometown team in the Saskatoon Blades midway through the 2019-20 WHL season, Alex Morozoff was back in the blue and yellow this season.
Morozoff appeared in all 24 of the Blades games in the bubble, tallying six points along the way for a Saskatoon squad that finished 16-5-3 and third in their respective division.
Adam McNutt
After starting the 2020-21 season with the La Ronge Ice Wolves, Adam McNutt received the call-up to the WHL with the Prince Albert Raiders when the season commenced.
McNutt, who registered 27 points in 40 games last season with the Contacts, notched a goal and two assists in his first WHL campaign. McNutt appeared in 22 of the team’s 24 games, helping lead the Raiders to a fourth-place finish in their respective division.
Another C's alum with a milestone - that's number1⃣ in the WHL for Adam McNutt!

Josh Paulhus
Josh Paulhus, who recorded 49 points in 44 games with the Contacts in the 2018-19 season, was scooped up by the Blades prior to the start of the bubble and he quickly found a home within Mitch Love’s lineup. Paulhus appeared in 17 games for the Blades, racking up 23 penalty minutes along the way.
Davin Griffin
Davin Griffin wrapped up his second season in the WHL with the Prince George Cougars. Griffin registered 1 assist in 15 games with the Cougars, who finished the season with a 9-10-3 record.
Griffin was a standout for two seasons with the Contacts, registering 81 points in 82 career SMAAAHL regular season games.
