With the beginning of the 2021-22 SMAAAHL regular season just a couple of weeks away, it's time for us to introduce our signings.
Amongst the bunch are 11 forwards, four defenseman and one goaltender, who join a young squad looking to make some noise this season.
2021-22 Contacts Signings
Kanye Huang
Huang, who is eligible for the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft, is set to join the Contacts for the 2021-22 season after spending the last two seasons in the U15 SAAHL with the Stallions and Outlaws.
Logan Pickford
Pickford, who was an affiliates for the Contacts in 2020-21 alongside Huang, will join the big club this season. Pickford lit up the U15 SAAHL this past year with 11 points in four games prior to the shutdown.
Carter Mason
Mason, who was born in Purdue, has spent the last four seasons suiting up in Martensville, registering 13 points in 29 games in 2019-20. The 2004-born forward will be making the transition to the SMAAAHL this season in his final year at the U18 level.
Morgan Tastad
Tastad was a member of the U15 Martensville Marauders in the SAAHL this season alongside previously announced Contacts signing Carter Mason. Tastad is a 2006-born defenseman who hails from Loreburn, Sask.
Chase Wutzke
Wutzke went 12-4-0 with a 2.94 goals-against-average and .905 save-percentage in 2019-20 with Martensville (SAAHL U15). The 2006-born netminder is the cousin of former Contacts goalie Rylan Parenteau.
Zach Moore
Moore is a 2006-born forward who joins the C's after spending the past two seasons with the Saskatoon Stallions (U15 SAAHL). Moore registered six goals and nine assists in just four games in 2020-21 prior to the shutdown.
Braydan Smith
The six-foot-three blueliner spent last season with the Swift Current Legionnaires, but will join the C's for the 2021-22 campaign. The Prince Albert native tallied three assists in six games in 2020-21.
Brodie Scopick
Scopick played the last two years in the U15 SAAHL, including with the Generals in 2019-20 alongside current Contact Logan Pickford, as well as Caden Price, a member of the 2020-21 squad.
Braxon Kabrud
Kabrud, who registered 32 points in 31 games with the Maniacs (SAAHL U15), was a member of the Riverkings last season and will make the jump to the AAA level in 2020-21.
Ronan Buckberger
The skilled blueliner put up 21 points in 31 games in 2019-20 in the U15 SAAHL and will be looking to carry his point-producing prowess to the U18 level this season with the Contacts.
Braeden Jockims
For the fourth-straight season, a Jockims will don the Contacts jersey. After Rylan starred with the Contacts from 2018-21, Braeden is following in his brothers footsteps. Last year, the 2005-born forward suited up for the Riverkings and will transition to AAA in 2021-22.
Rowan Guest
The six-foot-two defenseman joins the C's after spending last season with the Saskatoon Generals of the U15 SAAHL, where he tallied two goals and an assist in four games during the shortened season.
Tyler Lindal
The 2004-born forward will skate for the C's in what will be his last year of eligibility in U18. Lindal brings leadership and point-producing talent after 31 points in 33 games with the U18 Humboldt Broncos of the SAAHL in 2019-20.
Braden Nienaber
The Saskatoon native is a proven playmaker, tallying 20 assists in 31 games played in the U15 SAAHL in 2019-20, before then spending last season with the Saskatoon Icehawks (U18 SAAHL).
Carter Walter
After spending the last two seasons in the U18 SAAHL, Walter will make the leap up to AAA for the 2021-22 season. The talented forward registered 23 points in 33 games in his last full season with the Saskatoon Screaming Eagles.
Spencer Chestolowski
Chestolowski, a 2006-born Martensville, Sask. native, joins the C’s after spending the last two seasons in the U15 SAAHL.
The five-foot-ten forward was off to a hot start in 2020-21, tallying three points in four games with the Saskatoon Bandits before the shutdown.
