SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Contacts are excited to announce the signings of Tyrone Sobry, Mason Karakochuk, Rhett Ewen, Rylan Hue and Logan Edmonstone, who are all set to become members of the Contacts for the 2022-23 season.
“We’re thrilled to have Tyrone, Mason, Rhett, Rylan, and Logan agree to join the Saskatoon Contacts,” said Contacts Director of Recruiting and Scouting Mark Peterson.
“Perhaps the best part of these five players joining the Saskatoon Contacts is that they are great young men, who happen to be strong hockey players. We look forward to supporting their continued development as both hockey players and human beings.”
Among the five players, three join the Contacts from the Saskatoon Riverkings of the U18 SAAHL. Tyrone Sobry, Mason Karakochuk and Rhett Ewen all were members of the Riverkings, who finished atop of the Centre Four division standings with a 24-5-3 record.
“In Tyrone, Mason, and Rhett we feel we have added some of the strongest available 2006 players in the province to our group — all three were draft picks in the 2021 WHL Draft and had strong years with the Saskatoon Riverkings,” said Peterson.
Tyrone Sobry — a selection of @PARaidersHockey in the 2021 WHL Draft — registered 14 points in 31 games with @RiverkingsGSHL this season.

Rounding out the signings are a pair of 2007-born standouts are Rylan Hue and Logan Edmonstone, who starred on the Saskatoon Bandits and Saskatoon Generals this season in the U15 SMAAAHL.
“In Rylan and Logan, we have added two of the top 2007’s in the province – who have both played key roles on top teams in the U15AA league this year,” said Peterson.
One of the most lethal goal scorers in the U15 SAAHL this season, Rylan Hue led the Saskatoon Bandits with 31 goals in 31 games this season.

"We want to thank and acknowledge our entire group of affiliate players for the 2021-22 season that have contributed to the Saskatoon Contacts organization this season. Over the next few months, we are excited to continue to grow and develop our organization for the 2022-23 season and beyond,” said Peterson.
The Contacts begin the 2021-22 SMAAAHL postseason this Friday night, when they take on the Saskatoon Blazers at Rod Hamm Memorial Arena. The best-of-five quarter-final series shifts back home to Merlis Belsher Place for Game 2, as the Contacts play host to the Blazers on Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
